Summer 2025 Workshop

July 2025 · Eight sessions · Ages 7–13

An eight-session summer class in which children worked in small groups to write original stories and create the illustrations for them, finishing with a printed picture book of their own.

Over eight sessions, young authors moved from an introduction to illustrated storytelling, through writing and fixing the descriptions that produce a picture, on to keeping an art style consistent across a whole book, and finally to shaping the story itself.

Children wrote the story in their own words. When it came time to illustrate, they described the scene they had in mind, looked carefully at what the AI illustrator produced, and revised their description until the picture matched the story they meant to tell. Learning to say clearly what you want to see is the skill the sessions were built around.
